Listowel's Corey Conners held steady through his first nine holes of the RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club.
He started off the par-4 10th tee and was even on the hole. He then bogeyed the 11th and finished his first nine holes at 1-over-par.
On his second nine, he stuck the ball right near the pin on the approach shot on the first hole and tapped in for birdie. But he bogeyed the second hole to put him back at 1-over-par. He would then birdie the 4th and 5th holes and bogey his final hole of the day.
He ended the the day with an even-par-70. That puts him into a tie for 84th along with fellow Canadian Mike Weir.
Conners will tee off at 12:50 p.m. Friday for Round 2 off the first tee.
The top Canadian is Nick Taylor at 6-under and he's in a tie for 6th with four others. The leader is American Keegan Bradley at 7-under.
