WOAA recognizes volunteers

The Western Ontario Athletic Association held its 75th Annual General Meeting this week.

Three awards were handed out.

The O.M. Mike Weichel Honour Award went to Lucknow's Randy Alton for his work with minor hockey and softball. Alton has organized the local tyke hockey tournament for a number of years.

The W.O.A.A. David H. Jacobi Memorial President’s Award recipient was Dave Garinger from Owen Sound. He was first elected to the WOAA as a director in 1996 and has filled several roles including president.

And the Donald & Mary Gravett Memorial Bursary Award was given to Teeswater's Mac Fisher.

The WOAA also held its annual election with the following results: President –Allan Dickson, Wingham 1st Vice-President –Dave Garinger, Owen Sound 2nd Vice-President –Len Perdue, Saugeen Shores

Four Elected Board Members were: Grant Currie –Wingham Sheldon Dinsmore –Gorrie Steve Howson –Blyth Mike Mulvey –Wingham

The crowd was also reminded to keep a date circled on their calendar as the WOAA will will receive the “Sandy Hawley Community Service Award” from the Ontairo Sports Hall of Fame. That induction ceremony is Monday, October 21st in Toronto.
