Local softball players ready for the world

Midwestern Ontario is well represented on Canada's Junior Men's National Softball team team in New Zealand.

The squad will start their run at the 2020 WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup this week in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

There are a total of 12 teams in the tournament separated into two groups. Canada is in Group A along with Argentina and Australia. The Czech Republic, Singapore and South Africa round out the group.

Group B is made up of Japan, New Zealand, the U.S., Mexico, Denmark and Guatelmala.

The tournament format starts with an opening round then the top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Round while the three bottom teams from each group will move to the Placement Round.

The teams with the two best records at the end of the Super Round will play for Gold, while the two next best records will play for Bronze.
