The Wingham Ironmen held off a third period charge by the Kincardine Bulldogs Sunday afternoon and won Game 3 of their PJHL Pollock Division Semi-Final 4-3.
The Ironmen carried a 4-1 lead into the third period thanks to a hat trick from Kyle Stanbury and a goal by Justin Donnelly. Kincardine got a second period goal from Kent Ribey to get the Bulldogs on the board.
Kincardine recorded all of the scoring in the third with two goals just 27 seconds apart. Geoffry VandenBoorn at the 10:00 mark on the power play, then Mike Fiegehen just 27 seconds later.
But that is as close as the Bulldogs got.
Ironmen goalie Devon Carson made 24 saves for the win, Sean Andrus made 21 saves in the Kincardine crease.
Wingham leads the series 3-0 with Game 4 Wednesday in Kincardine at 8:30 p.m.

The Mitchell Hawks snuck out of Mount Forest Sunday night with a 1-0 win to take a 2-1 lead.
The only goal of the game came at the 15:12 point of the third period. Ethan Hill scored the only goal of the game.
The Patriots were unable to take advantage of three straight second period power plays within 8 minutes of the second period and went 0-for-5 on the power play in the game.
Mitchell goalie Lucas Bain made 37 saves for the shut out. Gleb Poliakov of the Patriots stopped 31 shots.
Game 4 of the series is in Mitchell Tuesday at 9 p.m.
