The Mount Forest Patriots peppered the Mitchell net in a 4-2 win in their Pollock Division semi-final game to even the series at two.
Mount Forest put 55 shots on net and scored twice just 39 seconds apart in the second period to open the scoring.
Blair Jenkins scored at the 13:12 mark for the first goal of the game followed by Ryley Cribbin at the 13:52 point. Jack Birkett would add Mount Forest's third goal to the board on the power play near the end of the second.
Mitchell responded with back to back goals in the third off the stick of Jarett Bogdon and Ryan Murray. Bodgon's goal came on Mitchell's only power play of the game.
The score held at 3-2 until Michael Steffanelli put the puck into the empty net to seal the win with just two seconds left.
Gleb Poliakov made 21 saves for the win in the Patriots' net while Mitchell used both goalies. Lucas Bain made 36 saves but allowed three goals. Seth Monkhouse came in and stopped 15 shots.
Game 5 of the series is Saturday in Mount Forest at 8 p.m.
The other semi-final continues Wednesday with Wingham in Kincardine at 8:30 p.m. The Ironmen lead the series 3-0.
