Conners finishes off Player's Championship with excellent final round

Listowel's Corey Conners kept himself well in the hunt at the Player's Championship this weekend at TPC Sawgrass.

Conners shot an impressive 6-under on Sunday, heading into the clubhouse with the lead, ultimately ending up sole 7th with Justin Thomas roaring back to overtake Lee Westwood and Bryson DeChambeau, the day's final pair. Conners eagled 11 after a solid opening front 9 and kept rolling to a great round, earning pars on the tricky 17th and 18th holes to finish out a quality round. Just ahead of Conners finish at 10-under for the tournament were Talor Gooch and Paul Casey tied for 5th at 11-under, DeChambeau and Bryan Harman tied for 3rd at 12-under, Westwood alone at 2nd with 13-under and Thomas finishing 14-under to steal the win.

Only three other players equalled Conners' final round best of 6-under, with Charles Howell the 3rd, Im Sung-jae and Collin Morikawa equalling the Canadian. The next event on the tour schedule is the Honda Classic from March 18th-21st at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
