Cyclones win big on road, Kincardine scores second win

The Listowel Cyclones took a first period lead in Brantford and never looked back in an 8-1 on the road.

Kian Harron and Danny Scott scored in the first period.

Then in the second the Cyclones' offense took over as four different Listowel players scored to build a 7-0 lead. Travis Verbeek scored twice, while Jackson Phillips, Jaden Goldie and Tate Brenner each chipped in one. Goldie would score his second goal of the game in the third period.

The result gave Listowel its second win of the young season and the Cyclones sit at 2-2-1 with back to back games against Kitchener-Waterloo scheduled for next weekend. The first game is Friday night in Listowel at 7:30 p.m. and the second is Sunday in Waterloo at 1:30 p.m.

The Siskins are coming off a 3-2 shootout win over Ayr. And Stratford beat Elmira 4-1.

In the PJHL, Kincardine picked up its second win of the season, a 6-1 win over Goderich.

Gavin Gibbons scored twice in the first to give Kincardine the lead. Riley Kuepfer would score on a Flyers' power play with just nine seconds to play in the first period to cut the lead in half.

The Bulldogs took care of the scoring the rest of the way with a pair of goals in the second and the third.

Kincardine joins Wingham as the two undefeated teams coming out of the opening weekend with two wins each.

The next Pollock Division game is scheduled for a rare midweek meeting on Wednesday, October 6 with Walkerton in Mitchell at 8 p.m.

Also on Sunday, Exeter won its first game of the season, 3-1 over Thamesford.
