Wingham Ironmen penalized

The PJHL has penalized the Wingham Ironmen for using an ineligible player in multiple games based on the league's COVID vaccination policy.

In a release from the team, the investigation involved six games in December. And after the review, the Ironmen were notified that they would be docked wins in three of those games.

They were the December 10th game versus Kincardine, 12th versus Walkerton and 19th versus Goderich.

In each case the opponent will be awarded a 5-0 win.

The loss of the points will drop the Ironmen to fifth in the Pollock Division behind Kincardine and Mount Forest based on the standings going into the weekend.

The team's release goes on to say that while disappointed in the ruling of what appears to be an 'administrative error', the team will move on taking this as a learning experience and concentrate on finishing the rest of the season.

In order to protect the identity of the player, the Wingham Ironmen will not provide any further comment.
