The Listowel Cyclones carried 19 rookies on their roster this year.
Only three players carried GOJHL experience into the season, Captain Jaden Goldie and fellow forward Cam Knight. Defenceman Cam Angst was the third.
All three played with Listowel during the 2019-2020 campaign.
In net, Dixon Grimes was in his second season with Listowel and Carter McDougall was learning the ropes and managed to play in 23 regular season games.
There were some players with some scattered experience, one, two maybe several games. But for most, it was their first full campaign.
Tuesday night the team put it on the ice to try an stay alive in their playoff series against the KW Siskins.
But the Siskins' experience came out on top, winning 4-1, scoring a clutch power play goal in the third period to put the game out of reach.
The game was tied at one going into the third period before the Siskins scored the go ahead goal. Andrew Van Antwerp snuck a seeing eye shot form the point over Grimes' shoulder. That was his third goal in two games.
A power play goal midway through the third period extended the lead and an empty net goal more than closed the deal.
Both teams had plenty of power play opportunities, Listowel going 1/5 and KW 1/6.
Ben MacRobbie scored the only Listowel goal at 14:41 of the second period.
While the Cyclones turn the page on this chapter, the novel is hardly finished. With a solid foundation the team will build in the off season and be back for the 2022-2023 run.
More players will be coming through the minor system and those who played this year will have more experience.
For the Siskins, they will wait to see who they will face in the conference semi-finals.
A Cambridge win over Caledon Wednesday night will pit the Red Hawks against KW in a two versus three battle.
Elmira, who swept Brantford Tuesday night with a 6-1 win, would face Stratford.
