For the fifth time in the PJHL Pollock Division Final, the team that scored first is the team that wins the game.
And Mitchell made good on a power play chance at 6:09 in the first period. A Sean Chisholm shot from the left side of the Hanover zone hit the inside of the far post and bounced in for the first goal of the game.
Hanover tied it courtesy of Dylan Richardson at 11:40 of the second period. He streaked in from the left wing and buried a rebound.
Mitchell took the lead minutes later, again on the power play. Charlie Rankin snapped a shot from the point that snuck in over the shoulder of Riley McCabe for the go-ahead goal and the eventual winner.
The Hanover Barons did have three power play chances in the third but could not capitalize on the opportunities.
Tyler Parr stopped 26 shots in the Mitchell net, And Riley McCabe stopped 22 shots in the Hanover net.
With the win, Mitchell leads the series 3-2 with Game 6 in Mitchell Friday at 7 p.m.
