A front office departure from one franchise and addition to another has caused quite a stir in the PJHL Pollock Division.
Mitchell Hawks Director of Hockey Operations and former GM/Assistant Coach, Josh Kiel, tendered his resignation from the club at a recent board meeting.
Kiel will be moving into the GM chair in Mount Forest, with longtime Patriots GM Rob Nixon moving into the Director of Hockey Ops role. The Patriots are the defending Pollock Division champs.
As GM of the Hawks in the 2021-22 season, Kiel helped lead the club to their first ever Pollock Division title. Last season, he moved into the Director of Hockey Ops role, making way for former CKNX Jr Hockey broadcaster Scott Bridge in the GM role, which Bridge will maintain this coming season.
In making the move, Kiel says he really loved his time in Mitchell, and wished everyone in the organization well as he moves into a new chapter with a rival club.
"I built a lot of good relationships in Mitchell, but when this opportunity came up, I needed to make a move. These opportunities don't come up everyday," Kiel said.
