West Windsor residents are hoping to keep the outdoor pool at Atkinson Park, while adding a splash pad.
The city held a public meeting at Adie Knox last night to gauge interest in the idea of replacing the pool with a splash pad — to the tune of about $500,000.
"That would be for filling in the existing pool, brand new construction, as well as replacement of the change rooms, washrooms -- making them fully accessible, a shade structure," explains Executive Director of Parks and Facilities Jan Wilson. "It's a very high-level estimate."
She says data shows Atkinson Park's usage is up, but the pool usage is declining.
The information gathered at the meeting is expected to be forwarded to council, as they begin budget deliberations on Monday.
