City Seeking Artist For Art Installation

The City of Windsor is putting out a call to artist for public art installations in honour of Windsor's 125th birthday celebrations.

They are looking to hire an artist or artist-led team to create a permanent new creation to be integrated onto the two facades of the transformer casing in the parking lot of 401 Riverside Drive. The artwork must focus on the birthday celebrations and help the community celebrate in a uniqe and interesting way.

“This is another great opportunity to celebrate Windsor’s 125th birthday through our local artists’ interpretations of our stories,” said Mayor Drew Dilkens. “We are extremely grateful to the Federal Government for the overwhelming support towards this legacy project in the heart of our cultural hub.”

The project is being funded through the Canadian Department of Heritage Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program. The total budget for the program is $22,000 and will be split between the two facades.

The competition is open to all residents living in the City of Windsor. The winning project will be announced May 20, 2017 and must be completed by June 23, 2017. It will be unveiled on Canada Day. For information on the application process visit the Windsor 125 Public Art Project page.
