If you are forced to renovate your basement after this week's flooding and need a safe place to store your stuff, U-Haul is offering 30 days of free self-storage.
U-Haul has four locations in Windsor: on Tecumseh Rd. E, Walker Rd. at Seminole St., Walker Rd. south of Hwy. 401, and Dougall Ave.
"We had record rainfall," says U-Haul Company of Western Ontario President David Anstett. "As a caring community member, U-Haul is pledging to help by offering families a safe and dry place to store their possessions."
The offer is for free storage for 30 days.
Environment Canada says Windsor received 100mm of rain over two days. So far, 2,700 residents have called the 311 Call Centre to report basement flooding, and the calls are still coming.
Other parts of Essex County also broke records for rainfall Monday and Tuesday. In Tecumseh, at least 150 mm fell, and other areas of the county were walloped too. LaSalle received a minimum of 185 mm.
Both Windsor and Tecumseh are having a special garbage pickup for flood debris.
