Heart-Shaped Pizza Supports Cardiac Care

The owner of Antonino's Original Pizza is challenging other pizzeria owners in the city to donate to the Cardiac-Angioplasty Program at Windsor Regional Hospital.

Every year Joe Ciaravino donates proceeds from his heart shape pizza sales to the program.

He says he's noticed a lot of other pizza places offering heart-shaped pizzas and he'd like to see others get involved.

"The cause is a very worthy one so I put a challenge out to all pizzeria in town to hop on board," says Ciaravino. "Donate a dollar from the sale of every heart-shaped pizza, start selling those paper hearts during the month of February and see what we can do to support local health care."

Each year Ciaravino donates around $2,500 to the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation through the sales of his heart-shaped pizzas and desserts. He's donated around $10,000 since he started this tradition.

Heart-shaped pizzas are still available to order but Ciaravino warns there may be a long wait on Valentine's Day if you did not pre-order. He is offering the special pizzas throughout the month of February.
