Windsor police say three men, including the victim, are now facing charges after a shooting last week.
Luther Downey, 26, of Windsor, has been charged with attempted murder, reckless use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm without a licence in connection with the incident, which took place in the early morning hours of October 5 on Ouellette Avenue near Maiden Lane. He was arrested Wednesday on Windsor Avenue near Erie Street East.
Police accuse Downey of shooting 28-year-old Robert Edwards of Mississauga. Police also allege Edwards was seen pointing a handgun of his own, then handing it to another man.
The victim was given first aid on the spot, then taken to hospital. He continues to recover from serious injuries suffered in the incident, but on Wednesday he was charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence, possession of suspected methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and breach of recognizance.
The third man, identified by police as 32-year-old Anthony Jones of Windsor, is charged with possession of a firearm without a licence and obstruction of justice.
The incident is still being investigated by the WPS Major Crimes Division. Anyone with information is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
