As the investigation continues, the owners of Wineology have said the Tecumseh location will reopen Tuesday following a fire.
Less than two weeks after a fire caused extensive damage at Wineology's flagship location on Wyandotte Street East in Windsor's Olde Walkerville area, the Tecumseh location went up in flames early Monday morning.
Despite the fire causing around $50,000 in damage to the location on Manning Road, Wineology announced in a Facebook post Monday evening that the restaurant will be operational Tuesday.
"Wineology has been a successful business since opening its doors," read the post. "We’ve since franchised and have big plans in motion to be opening more locations. As humans, it’s difficult not to assume when something seems too good to be true, or in this case, a complete nightmare. We ask that you see through the whispers and speculations, and keep the entire Wineology family in your thoughts and prayers. Our Tecumseh location will re-open for lunch tomorrow, March 3."
While the Walkerville incident was declared an accident, officials have categorized the incident at the Tecumseh location as suspicious. The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office was called to the scene along with the Ontario Provincial Police.
"They'll be working together to sort this mess out," says Fire Prevention Officer Bob Hamilton with the Tecumseh Fire Service. "It's suspicious right now, that's all I can say because I really don't know who's involved but certainly it is suspicious and we're treating it as an arson."
No word yet what started the fire, and there were no reported injuries.
