Essex reopens Harrow Arena Tuesday

Following a shut down in March because of the pandemic, the Town of Essex is finally reopening the Harrow & Colchester South Community Centre to recreational ice rink users.

It will reopen with new protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on Tuesday, September 8.

Those who go will be screened by staff or volunteers of the league or organization using the arena. The Town has also published a video walkthrough to show visitors what they can expect.

"We are working closely with all of our user groups to ensure a safe return to arena activities in our community," said Deputy CAO and Director of Community Services, Doug Sweet. "We are excited to welcome players and participants back to the ice, and we're asking for their cooperation and patience as we all adjust to the new procedures."

Visitors must maintain social distancing and hand hygiene within Town of Essex facilities. Anyone showing symptoms of the virus or confirms exposure to a known case of COVID-19 is asked to stay home.

Meanwhile, the Building and Bylaw Division Building on County Road 12 will return to regular operating hours on September 8. Those are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Town Hall on Talbot Street South is also open those hours.

The Essex Centre Sports Complex remains closed for repairs.
