The Municipality of Leamington is mourning the loss of long-time Councillor John Jacobs.
According to a release from the municipality, Councillor Jacobs passed away suddenly on Monday morning.
He was serving his third term on Leamington Council. He was first elected in 2010 and served on many committees of council since that time.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and Council colleague,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “On behalf of Council and municipal staff, I would like to express our sincere condolences to John’s wife Donna and family. John was dedicated to serving the people of Leamington and ensuring their concerns and interests were brought forward to the council table. He will be sadly missed.”
The Leamington council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 10 has been postponed until November 17, 2020.
“Leamington Council and municipal staff will take this time to grieve and process the loss of our dear colleague and friend,” said MacDonald.
The flags at all municipal facilities have been lowered in honour of Jacobs.
