The French-language Catholic school board serving Windsor-Essex has reported a positive COVID-19 at a high school.
Conseil scolaire catholique Providence has confirmed the case at L'Essor Secondary School in Tecumseh. The board's website says one cohort has been sent home.
As is the situation with any positive case reported at a school, CSC Providence has notified all people who may have had contact with the person, and the affected cohort has been directed not to attend class on Wednesday. The identity of the affected person is not being disclosed for privacy reasons.
The school remains open as usual for all other classes.
This positive brings the number of active cases at CSC Providence to six, throughout three buildings. Four patients were connected to Monseigneur Jean-Noel Elementary in Windsor, and one at Sainte-Marie Elementary in Chatham-Kent.
CSC Providence covers French Catholic schools in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, London-Middlesex, Sarnia-Lambton, Oxford County, and Grey County.
Meanwhile, at the Greater Essex County District School Board, there were 13 active patients as of Tuesday afternoon, all but one of them students. The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board reported four active cases.
Conseil scolaire Viamonde, the French public board, currently has two cases in Windsor-Essex, both at L'Envolee Elementary in Windsor.
