There will be a party in Tecumseh in 2022, but it won't be at the Tecumseh Corn Festival.
Town councillors have decided to put that event on pause for another year while it focuses on its centennial celebrations instead in 2022.
Tecumseh plans to celebrate 100 years since it incorporated next July 2 to July 4.
The 100th anniversary will also be a theme in all smaller events in the town next year.
The Tecumseh Corn Festival was last held in 2019. It has been on hiatus for the past two years because of public health restrictions to fight COVID-19.
There was a review of programming at the festival following the event two years ago. When presented to councillors last year, the review recommended major changes, including dropping the admission fee and moving the Miss Tecumseh Pageant to L'Essor High School.
The festival is expected to return in 2023.
