While work on the Gordie Howe International Bridge continues, Bridging North America is also constructing 12 structures at the Canadian Port of Entry.

All of the buildings and canopies are at different stages of construction.

"Some of them are already what we call dried in, which means the walls are up and the roofs on so we can work inside throughout the winter. Which helps us, trying to keep construction going throughout the year," said Michael Hatchell, Bridging North America CEO.

The Canadian Port of Entry is around 130 acres and over 12,000 square meters of building. It is the largest border crossing between the two countries.

There are another eight structures under construction on the Port of Entry to the United States.

Hatchell admits the pandemic and supply chain issues have caused some delays.

"The official schedule still shows November 2024, it's moved and we're trying to get back to that date," said Hatchell.

The bridge towers are more than halfway up and currently sit around 525 feet in the air. The cables have started to be installed and by the end of the year will be about halfway across the river.
