Environment Canada issued a tornado warning for Windsor and Essex County Wednesday afternoon.
Shortly after 4 p.m., Meteorologists said they were tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado.
Before 4:30 p.m., the tornado warning for the area was lifted. A severe thunderstorm warning remains in place.
A marine tornado warning is in effect for the lower Great Lakes including Lake Erie.
Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are possible with this storm system. It is also capable of producing a tornado.
"If you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately. Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet," recommends the alert from Environment Canada.
Tornado warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing tornadoes.
