UPDATE: Windsor Police identify suspect in one of two recent fires

The Windsor Police Service has identified a suspect in one of the two fires being investigated in the city and Amherstburg.

The fire, on Baseline Road near the 7th Concession Road, started around 4 p.m. Tuesday. Crews found one person unconscious outside and sent them to hospital with smoke inhalation and burns.

Fire Prevention Officer Mike Coste said Windsor Police took over the investigation because it looked like arson. The arson unit soon determined that the fire was set intentionally.

The person, who is still in hospital with serious injuries, is expected to be charged with arson.

The second fire was on Cowan Court in Amherstburg on Thursday morning.

A home under construction on Cowan Court went up in flames around 8:30 a.m., and fire officials in the town think someone set it intentionally.

Damage is around $50,000.
