Suspect wanted for unfounded bomb threat

Windsor police have issued an arrest warrant for a former Windsor resident they believe to be responsible for a bomb threat at the Ontario Court of Justice last Friday.

On September 15, officers responded to an online report about a bomb having been placed near the Ontario Court of Justice on Chatham Street.

Officers and K9 explosive-detection dogs did a thorough search of the area and determined there was no bomb.

The Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation and identified a suspect.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Fernando (Sebastian) Guijarro Velastegui, 28, a former Windsor resident now believed to be in Ecuador.

Velastegui is currently wanted for public mischief.
