Scary, howling winds kept the number of trick-or-treaters down in Sarnia-Lambton Friday night, snapping tree branches and causing some power outages.
Hydro was disrupted in Sarnia in the area of Maxwell St., Kember Ave., Brenchley Ave. and London Rd. after a pole snapped around 7pm.
Power was out for about five hours.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue Platoon Chief Chris McGraw says some people were trapped in vehicles for a period of time until downed hydro lines could be safely removed.
Crews remained on scene Saturday morning putting a new pole in place in intermittent wind driven snow showers.
There were also a couple of sporadic outages reported by Hydro One in the county, but power had been restored Saturday.
A north-northeast wind gust of 78 km/h was recorded at Chris Hadfield Airport before midnight.
Brisk northerly winds were forecast to continue Saturday, November 1, giving way to sunny skies and a high of 7C (45F) Sunday.
