Settlement Reached In Bridge Reprisals Case

A federal whistleblower tribunal hearing into three applications filed against Blue Water Bridge Canada has ended.

Board Chair Marcel Beaubien confirms to BlackburnNews.com a settlement has been reached with three former employees but he is not at liberty to comment further.

Hearings were scheduled to continue this week after the Integrity Commissioner applied to the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Tribunal but the matter is now closed.

The tribunal was investigating allegations of reprisals being taken against three employees that were let go after the resignation of former CEO Chuck Chrapko.

An initial investigation had looked into reports that Chrapko had awarded two excessive severance payouts totalling over $650,000.

A tribunal of federal court judges was created in 2007 to protect public servants from retaliation for reporting wrongdoing.
