An apartment building in south Sarnia was evacuated this morning (Mon) after fire broke out in a unit.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue Service responded to a three-storey walk up at Queen St. and Talfourd St around 9:30am.
Smoke and heat damage to the unit where the fire originated and in the hallway is estimated at $15,000.
Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Van Gaver says no one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters were still on scene this afternoon and the cause remained under investigation.
Van Gaver says residents were evacuated for about an hour and housed temporarily in a Sarnia Transit bus.
