Commissioning Activities Underway At BioAmber

Commissioning activities are underway at BioAmbers bio-succinic plant on Vidal St. in Sarnia's south-end.

In a news release, the Minnesota-based company says commissioning and start-up is expected to take about five months with on-going construction expected to wrap up in two months.

BioAmber says says commercial operation is expected to begin in the third quarter of this year.

The $135-million plant will be the world's largest succinic acid manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons.

BioAmber has said 60 permanent jobs will be created and has signed a number of supply agreements.

Company officials will offer more comments when it BioAmbers year end financial statement is released next week. (March 12)
