Warming Trend Most Welcome

After a record cold February, Environment Canada's forecast shows a warming trend.

High temperatures are to edge above the freezing mark over the weekend and climb to 10 C (50 F) by Wednesday of next week.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says it appears we have turned the corner.

Since mid February eight new record cold temperatures have been set in Sarnia Another long standing record low fell Friday morning. The mercury at Chris Hadfield Airport dropped to -19.9 C (-4 F), narrowly breaking the previous mark for March 6 of -19.4 C set in 1978. New record lows were set in 15 Ontario centres including Ridgetown where a record dating back to 1890 was smashed. Five extreme cold warnings were also issued in February in Sarnia-Lambton.
