Minor Flooding Expected

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority, in its latest statement, says any flooding in the Sydenham River watershed is expected to be minor.

However, the conservation authority cautions that river flows will continue to be high with some localized flooding into floodplain areas.

Levels are beginning to moderate and are expected to continue to fall slowly across the watershed, but additional snow melt will continue to enter the river and as ice breaks up, ice jams are very possible.

Minor flooding is likely above the jams.

Residents are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas.

The Sydenham River and smaller watersheds drain into southern Lake Huron, the St. Clair River and northeastern Lake St. Clair.
