"No Comment" From Interested SGH Developers

Developers interested in the former Sarnia General Hospital site are not sharing details of where they will go from here.

Sarnia council voted 6-2 against extending its Agreement of Purchase and Sale with the group during Monday's meeting.

When contacted by Blackburn News this morning, Kenn Poore gave an explicit "no comment."

Poore is one of the five local businessmen who submitted an offer proposing development of a $15-million health campus.

The groups agreement will expire April 17.

Council decided to receive and file the request and will now await the final legal ruling on ownership of the building and the responsibilities that go with ownership.

Two independent property appraisals and a cost estimate of hazardous materials remediation are also being done.

Councillor Mike Kelch thinks the decision will provide a fresh start with potential for other opportunities, which are currently unknown.

He says by pressing the reset button, council can step back and honour both the current and future official plan, which clearly called for residential development of the site.
