Sarnia City Council approved spending $1.225-million on asphalt resurfacing on a portion of Confederation Line, Blackwell Sideroad and Kenny St. this year.

$1.5-million will see Waterworks Rd. from Lakeshore to Michigan Rd. resurfaced in 2016 and $1.6-million towards sections of Confederation Line, Blackwell Sideroad and River Road in 2017.

Sarnia City Council tabled discussion on a Dog Park Pilot Project at Centennial Park to allow for more community input.

A dog owners organization has proposed an off-leash zone be set up on the north side of the park.

The city will submit an expression of interest for the acquisition of St. Patrick's High School to the St.Clair Catholic District School Board.

Council approved the recommendation Monday. City staff will report back to council following discussions with Bluewater Health and the Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track and Field Club.

Sunday gun hunting within city limits has been approved by Sarnia council.

A request will now be forwarded to the Ministry of Natural Resources for an amendment to their regulation for the area to allow for Sunday gun hunting.

Sarnia council has accepted a proposal by Bluewater's Best Fries to operate Concession/Rental Services within Centennial Park at a cost of $57,000 over two years.

While remediation is completed at Centennial, the vendor will be relocated to the gravel pad east of the old Maclean Centre parking lot.
