Bowman Centre Watching Alberta NDP Government

The election of an NDP government in Alberta shouldn't derail the push for a new refinery in Sarnia Lambton.

That's the opinion of Bowman Centre associate Walter Petryschuk.

He says Premier Rachel Notley supports the policy of adding value to bitumen in Alberta.

Notley says she won't pursue the Keystone XL or Northern Gateway pipelines which she feels are bogged down in political and legal wrangling.

She favours the Energy East pipeline and Kinder Morgan expansion.

Petryschuck says Canada is losing $2.5 billion annually by exporting, rather than processing bitumen at home.
