Powerboat Festival Back For Fifth Year

The International Powerboat Festival will be taking over the downtown waterfront this year as it returns for its fifth installment August 7-9.

Co-organizer Michele Stokely says other than the ticketed concerts, the whole weekend is free.

The Trews headline Friday's concert with Red Wanting Blue, while Tom Cochrane and Red Rider takes the stage Saturday. Stokely says with only 2,000 tickets available, the downtown waterfront concerts will be up close and personal.

About 35 to 40 power boats are expected to take part in this year's races on the St. Clair River, scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, August 9.

Bayside Mall will be provide free parking throughout the weekend.
