Large Vessel Transport Friday

A large refinery vessel is to be transported across the city tomorrow (Friday), requiring traffic restrictions and a power outage.

A 24 ft high "stripper unit" destined for a refinery in Alberta will be transported across the city beginning at 9am.

It will depart from Chester St. off Confederation St., proceed west on Confederation St. to Murphy Rd., then north on Murphy to Exmouth St.

The vessel will move west on Exmouth all the way to Harbour Rd. and then Seaway Dr. where it's to be placed on barge for shipment to Minnesota and then on to Alberta.

34 Bluewater Power customers in the Exmouth/Indian Rd. area will see their service disrupted, possibly for a couple of hours, because a hydro line will have to be taken down.

The entire move will take about three hours and involve Bell and Cogeco as well as the power utility.

Police urge motorists to try to avoid the impacted areas.
