A damage estimate is expected later this week for repairs needed at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
The copper cross on top of the steeple was bent during the brief but powerful thunderstorm Saturday afternoon.
Reverand Llyod Murdock says the cross won't have to be replaced and can be salvaged.
He says this comes after a number of recent upgrades were made to the Christina St. church including a new roof on the sanctuary and repairs made to the steeple, except the cross.
Murdock says its anticipated they will be holding some fundraisers to help pay for the costs.
