The Ontario government is now accepting applications under the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund.
The fund provides grants of up to $25,000 for non-profit organizations and groups for projects that will have a direct environmental benefit to the Great Lakes.
In an interview with Blackburn News, Environment Minister Glen Murray says money has been put to good use in the past.

Since 2012, $4.5-million has been awarded to 221 community-based projects across the province.
Submissions can be made until October 23 by visiting www.ontario.ca/greatlakesfund.
