Accessibility Award Winners Announced

Six local businesses have been announced for the 2015 Accessibility Awards.

The city received 23 nominations in total, more than double compared to previous years.

The accessibility awards recognize local businesses that provide exceptional, inclusive environments and shopping experiences for people with disabilities.

Dr. Stacey Cornelius and Staff, as well as Giant Tiger were both recognized for creating inclusive business environments. Crabby Joes was awarded for exceptional leadership in customer service.

St. Clair Tae Kwon Do was recognized for helping create opportunities for an accessible community, Dr. Larry Soden was given an award for providing an accessible physical environment and the Access Athletics Racing team was nominated for going above and beyond.

The list of winners were created by the City of Sarnia's Accessibility Advisory Committee, the Breaking Barriers to Business program and with help from the local community.

Recipients will receive their awards during the Sarnia City Council meeting October 5.
