Legionnaires Burn Rockets Again In OT

For the second straight Thursday night, the Sarnia Legionnaires (5-4-1-1) downed the visiting Strathroy Rockets (4-3-1-3) in overtime in GOJHL hockey action.

The Rockets opened the scoring early in the second period but Brandon Layman and Hunter Tyczynski lit the lamp to put Sarnia ahead 2-1 after two.

Strathroy tied the game at 2-2 just one minute into the third.

Alec DeKoning scored the game winning goal in overtime to make it 3-2. It was his third goal of the campaign.

There were no penalties called in the contest, marking just the fourth time in league history that feat has been accomplished.

Shane Battler made 26 saves in the Legionnaires' net, while Rockets goalie Mat Ouellet made 34 saves on 37 shots against.

Sarnia's next game is scheduled for Sunday night in Chatham.
