Comeback Falls Short Against Kitchener

It was too little too late for the Sting, who fell at home to Kitchener 6-3 on Thursday night.

After a scoreless first period, Kitchener scored four straight to start the second, including a pair from Ryan MacInnis. Despite the four goal deficit, Sarnia battled back. Chase Campbell got the Sting on the board and Pavel Zacha scored a power play goal with 18 seconds left on the clock, trimming Kitchener's lead to two.

Sarnia started the third period exactly how they wanted with Anthony Salinitri scoring 1:10 in to make it a one goal game. That's as close as the Sting would get as Darby Llewellyn scored an insurance marker with just over two minutes left in the third. Kitchener would add an empty net goal in the final seconds to seal the deal.

The loss drops Sarnia's record to 7-3-1 on the season while Kitchener remains one of two OHL teams without a regulation loss at 7-0-3.

The Sting travel to Sault Ste. Marie Friday night for a match up with the Greyhounds.
