Charge Against Wyoming Firefighter Dropped

A careless driving charge laid against a Wyoming volunteer firefighter in a multi-vehicle crash on the 402 has been dropped.

Neil Bain was the only person charged in a pile up that two fire trucks became involved in while responding during a snow storm in March 2014.

Plympton-Wyoming officials expressed concern the charge was retribution for criticism about Hwy. 402 maintenance and a petition was circulated calling for it to be dropped.

7,000 signatures were filed at the Ontario Legislature earlier this month.

Wyoming Fire Chief Mike Vasey says he's relieved to see the charges finally dropped.

Bain was one of five volunteer firefighters injured in the crash involving 15 vehicles.

Chief Vasey says Bain is very thankful for the community support.
