Chmelevski Named To USA Hockey's U-17 Team

Sarnia Sting rookie centre Sasha Chmelevski is being rewarded for a strong start to his first Ontario Hockey League season.

The 16-year-old California native has been named to Team USA's squad for the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. The event is being held November 1-7 in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, BC.

Chmelevski, the Sting's 10th overall pick in the 2015 OHL draft, sits third in rookie scoring with five goals in 12 games.

Chmelevski is no stranger to international play, having captained the USA Under-17 team to a gold medal at the Five Nations cup in Arosa, Switzerland.

In four games played, he notched four goals and six assists for a total of 10 points.
