Change Of Animal Farm Operator Proposed

The Sarnia and District Humane Society would like to operate the popular animal farm at Canatara Park.

The society and the farm's primary funding partner, the Seaway Kiwanis Club, are to appear before city council at its meeting Monday.

Mayor Mike Bradley says he's not sure why they would like to change operation, since it would have no impact on the city's budget.

The City of Sarnia has operated the facility since 1963 and has recently faced concerns of non-compliance with required guidelines.

Bradley says he would like to see the matter go to public consultation.

The humane society would like to operate the animal farm for a five-year period beginning in the new year.
