Sarnia Kinsmen Parade Of Lights (Gallery)

Santa Claus was a busy guy around Sarnia-Lambton Saturday.

Thousands lined Christina St. for the Sarnia Kinsmen Parade of Lights.

The procession included over 40 floats and several marching bands including entries from Rochester Michigan and the Port Huron area.

Students from Sarnia Christian School collected food and cash donations for the Inn of the Good Shepherd, and postal workers collected letters to Santa.

There were also Santa Claus parades Saturday in Thedford at 6:30pm, Petrolia at 2pm and in Watford at 10am.

Those attending in Watford were asked to bring a teddy bear to toss in a truck along the parade route for distribution through the Christmas for Everyone campaign.

The winning entries in the parade were announced on Sunday. They include:

  • Best overall theme float - Suncor Energy Products
  • Special mention group - Sarnia Street Machines
  • Most entertaining entry - JD Lawn Care
  • Best school/youth entry - Girl Guides of Canada
  • Best industrial entry - Shell
  • Best commercial entry - Steeves and Rozema
  • Best charitable entry - The Deker Bauer Foundation for Suicide Prevention
  • Best community service entry - Redeemer Lutheran Church
