Fence Height Restrictions Possible

The City of Sarnia could soon have restrictions on the height of front-yard fences.

After a public meeting Monday, council will vote on a bylaw amendment application that limits heights of fences adjacent to street lines and driveways.

Mayor Mike Bradley says there are safety concerns for obstructing the view of motorists and pedestrians.

Depending on the type of construction, fences could be limited to either 0.75m (2.5 ft.) or 1m (3.3ft) in height.

Staff were instructed to prepare amendments following a complaint regarding the height of two wooden fences along Beach Lane in August.
