United Way Campaign Reaches $2-Million

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton's campaign has officially reached the $2-million mark for the first time ever. This represents 102% of the $1.95-million goal.

Executive Director Dave Brown is thrilled by the community support.

He says a number of campaigns have just wrapped up including the County of Lambton, City of Sarnia, and Cabot Canada.

"We had some terrific volunteers out like we do every year, volunteering to raise money throughout the community," says Brown.

"I think people understand that there are others that aren't as fortunate as they might be so, like usual, the community just seemed to rally together and raised a record amount of money."

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 22 member agencies which provide 35 programs and services to area residents.

Brown says next year, 42 per cent of the money will go toward youth programs, 30 per cent to family programs, and 28 per cent to seniors programs.
