Festive RIDE Program Continues

Sarnia police have stopped about 3,000 vehicles so far during its Festive RIDE campaign. 20 roadside tests have been administered and two suspensions have been issued. Constable Les Jones says officers will continue to conduct their RIDE checkpoints into the new year. Jones says if you are out attending a holiday party and drinking, plan ahead. "Up to date, they've had about maybe 10 official RIDE programs. They've stopped almost 3,000 cars, and of that they've administered 20 roadside tests and issued two suspensions," says Jones. Penalties for registering a warn for blood alcohol concentration can range from a three day licence suspension and fine for first time offenders, to a 30 day suspension, fine and an ignition interlock system installed in your vehicle for repeat offenders.
