Bluewater Health Appoints New Executives

Bluewater Health has announced the appointment of three new executives to fill planned retirements in top management at the hospital.

Over 80 interested candidates were considered with the help of a leading executive search firm.

Shannon Landry comes from Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston to fill the role of Chief Nursing Executive previously held by Barb O'Neil.

Laurie Zimmer, from the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network, has accepted the Vice-President's position currently held by Lynda Robinson.

A second incoming vice-president has also been confirmed but will be announced after the holiday season.

Mike Lapaine is the incoming President and CEO, taking over for the retiring Sue Denomy.

He says there could be opportunity for cost savings as a result of management restructuring.

"Anytime senior leaders change at any organization, there could be some realignment within the organization," says Lapaine. "It's probably premature to speculate on that, however, healthcare is undergoing huge change at the moment."

"Change for us is inevitable."

Bluewater Health is projecting a $1.5-million deficit to the end of the fiscal year March 31, 2016.

It was announced previously that Dr. Michel Haddad had been appointed Interim Chief of Professional Staff following the departure of Dr. Mark Taylor.

The sixth member of the executive team is Kim Bossy who has served as Chief of Communications and Public Affairs since 2008.
