Retired Violin Teacher Facing Sex Charges

Sarnia police are alerting the public about the arrest of a retired strings teacher by Chatham-Kent police for sexual offences dating back to the early 1980's.

Constable Les Jones says 70-year-old Claude Eric Trachy of Chatham had ties to Sarnia-Lambton during his teaching of the violin and the viola.

Investigators want to ensure that there are no other victims.

"Trachy is currently charged with ten counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual exploitation," says Jones.

He has been released with conditions pending a future court date.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Constable Shawn Mungar of the Chatham Major Crime Unit at 519-436-6600 ext. 288 or via email at shawnm@chatham-kent.ca.
